There always seems to be someone who walked before isn't it?
We are mever alone.
The sin is to think as much.
Yaaa, you are so right, Gerard!
I found this leave just in front of the ancestor's graves on my daily walk to get the newspaper.
Someone left the traces ... and I was there to pick them up !
Such a happy moment!
Gabi
such an interesting looking leaf...what kind of tree is it from?

That is such a cool shot!
It reminds me of a stick we found (and of course I had to bring home :-).
it has designs made in from some bugs, very intricate carvings. it's beautiful.
so is this leave!

Wow nature doodling on a leaf. I love it!!!

Very cool... interesting how the worm seemed to mirror the squiggly in the leaf :) -- maybe he/she thought it was a potential mate :) --
thanks for sharing that, Gabi. :) C.

ah, yes leaf miners have certainly been here before us, too, in deep time...before any mammal or marsupial. It seems they were the first plant eating insects! and they're still here ... d'you know that archeologists, specialists in this sort of thing can analyze the ancient minute droppings and figure out what was eaten by these tiny creatures?
I like the delicacy and close observation of this one, Gabi, and the resonance [given the above]

Lovely, Gabi. Simple and open.

Layered and simple at the same time. Nice one, Gabi.

Yes, Gabi san,
A wonderful moment, well-expressed.

beautiful, the haiku itself is letter perfect if you ask me.
But your subject line "ancestors" does work as a title because it is not in the haiku anywhere,
If you want that to be in the haiku , you may have to put it in there somehow, I actually took it more literally, that you saw someone's footsteps or animal tracks on the path.

Hi, Gabi san! Lovely ku and it goes well with the photo

I love the openess of this, Gabi; so many ways to read it.
Lovely!

Ohhhhh! Lovely, open, fresh, accepting, respecting, appreciating...I saw it in snow--that sense that one is alone but never alone, really--someone has usually been there before. Really nice--so many layers.
Smile on my face this afternoon.
Knowing that cultural detail makes the poem even deeper. I really like it, Gabi. Thanks for that.

i have a collection of skeletonised leaves but i have never seen something like this before .. what a precious find ! ....
taking a line
for a walk
comes to mind ...
your haiku works without the picture which is good for the poem ... except the picture in one's mind may not be quite the one you show with the poem ...
