  2. Dear Gabi san,
Thank you for sharing this haiku with us all. When I relate it to human perspective with regards to European seasons, winter symbolizes the end of life... death...cold! The haiku makes me wonder also why the wrinkles while there is 'spring sunshine'

Yesterday in the evening it rained in Nairobi after some weeks without rain. I hope you've got your Futon ready for this month.

  4. I like this very much, Gabi.
    All these wrinkles/when he smiles.

I love the way in which old age does not diminish his enjoyment of the spring sunshine. May even add to it.

  5. Fom wrinkles to smiles - like buds to a leaf or flower. I really like this Gabi.

  10. If we could only get some sunshine Gabi = just to let us know that spring was around the corner.

It would certainly make these old wrinkles smile.
Lovely start of the year haiku.

  12. Hi Gabi,
like the calendar that you are following emotionally. all though Washington D.C. had a blizzard yesterday and(though it began the evening before) an artic cold front kept it at bay and away from our door in Southern New England. even this morning though 7 degees farenheit, the light is brighter and pouring in the windows while I finish letting the kitchen floor dry.

I feel like spring's here or at least waiting around the corner. Really like your ku and the farmhouse ku was fun as well. all of them creaks in the beams. someday I'll get to Washington or Tokyo or Vancover when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
    enjoyed, P.
