NHK has started a new two-year course,
where kigo figure prominently and
the teacher stated something like that ...

find your own voice

by choosing the season words carefully,
bring them alive in your very own images

Basic Japanese Haiku Theories

Kigo, seasonal words ... the Basics

NHK HAIKU ... NHK 俳句

Later I wrote a piece of advise to a haiku friend

I guess you just have to find your own voice
among all the poems
that go under the cover of English language HAIKU.

  6. Gabi, I like the allusion in this, the humour and the number of ways in which it might be read.

  11. Terrific, Gabi san.
The excellent advice in it reminds me of an old poem called "Far Better That You Be a Raven".
I think the poet's name was Keith Castro, but I'm not sure.

  14. Gabi,
Like I have said before, and now:

Higginson admired you, I admire you and I cannot tell you how many of the top haiku editors that I personally know have
    suggested your Kigo website.

  19. Hi Gabi!
I like what Gene has to say, and thank you Gabi,
kigo is a great feature of haiku and it would be a shame if it was abandoned, or perhaps even worse, diluted.
May the force be with you Gabi Skywalker.
